Richard Bergeron promises to put Montreal back on track

Richard Bergeron, leader of Projet Montréal and candidate for mayor of Montreal, announced his party's public transport plan for 2009-2017. "We advocate a multi-modal strategy, so as to maximize the use of public transport while minimizing infrastructure costs," Mr. Bergeron explained. "In other words, we want Montrealers to get the best possible value for their money." [...]

Gérald Tremblay and urban security: on how to make old things new again!
Wednesday October 7, 2009
In response to Gerald Tremblay’s announcement to invest close to $45 million over four years to improve the city’s street security, Projet Montreal leader and mayoral candidate Richard Bergeron outlined how this commitment strangely resembles the mayor’s 2007 transport plan. “This isn’t a new announcement, it’s simply a case of repackaging. Tremblay doesn’t have any new ideas, he jealously guards his old ones, and simply takes them out of the closet when inspiration fails to strike,” he commented. [...]
Richard Bergeron promotes a real sustainable development program for Montreal
Tuesday October 6, 2009
Over the course of a debate hosted by the Conseil régional de l’environnement (CRE), in a UQÀM hall filled to capacity and punctuated by repeated bursts of applause, Richard Bergeron proved himself the leader of the only municipal political party with a real sustainable development program for Montreal. With respect to air quality, Mr. Bergeron remarked that the incidence of air pollution corresponds exactly to the lay-out of Montreal’s network of highways and to the configuration of traffic throughways in its central zone. “Unfortunately it also corresponds to the city’s demographics of poverty. Montreal’s least well-off citizens inhabit a cloud of pollution, a condition under which no one should have to live.” [...]
Billions to repair Montreal’s roads: Ms. Harel’s newest aberration
Monday October 5, 2009
In response to Louise Harel’s promise to invest $850 million annually to repair Montreal’s roads, Richard Bergeron, head of Projet Montréal and candidate for mayor of Montreal, has underlined that Harel’s proposal would cost Montrealers billions. “True to the unsound propositions that inform her political strategies, Ms. Harel is showing an obvious lack of competence in her proposals to manage the City of Montreal’s budget by promising to invest a whopping $3.4 billion in road maintenance over the next four years.” Added Bergeron,” Is this the only challenge that Montreal is facing?” [...]
Projet Montréal presents a strong and diversified team in 2009
Monday October 5, 2009
The municipal election next month promises to be a pleasant surprise for supporters of Projet Montréal. Party leader and candidate for mayor, Richard Bergeron, is pleased that his party has candidates running in every electoral district in the city. “I am proud that city residents will have the opportunity to vote for Projet Montréal candidates for every available position, which was not the case in 2005. This year, the complete slate shows that Projet Montréal is responding to the high hopes people have expressed for the party’s campaign. [...]
Projet Montréal annonce un Carnaval de Venise dans Pointe-aux-Prairies
Saturday October 3, 2009 — only available in french
Richard Bergeron Committed to Developing the Maritime Gateway
Friday October 2, 2009
" It is more than time to reinstill life in the shores of the St-Lawrence and let Montrealers reclaim access to the River." Richard Bergeron, leader of Projet Montréal and Montreal mayoral candidate, invited reporters on a boat ride this afternoon, to present what is the cornerstone of his party's program: the development of Montreal's Maritime Gateway. [...]
